Dotface is a new media startup, producing media content for the millennial generation. Dotface’s slogan is ‘We will make the common sense of the millennial generation become the mainstream in our society with our anger on the lack of common knowledge and as well as the affection for the world.
They are publishing their contents through their website, facebook, youtube, and other online platforms while producing their content within the category of ‘Justice’ which would usually be categorized as ‘politics’ or ‘society’ in the mainstream press. Dotface deals with issues that are excluded from the media or the dismissed opinions of the minority like gender issues, feminism, political social issues, sexual minorities, technology changing the world, etc. They distribute their contents mainly through their facebook page which has more than 80,000 followers, and as Dotface is recognized with their distinctive content, they are gaining support from subscribers mostly from the 20-30 age range.
Sodam Jo, the founder became interested in our society as she attended university and has been organizing various activities ever since. As one of the founders of the media startup started by youths in their twenties called ‘Misfits,’ Sodam Jo led the project ‘The Houses of the Youth’ covering the housing issue of the youth in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. In 2016, Sodam was awarded first place in the ‘Seoul Digital Forum Next Media Challenge’ organized by SBS, Gweonggyido Province, and the App Center Corporation for her media platform ‘vvitness’ which introduced a new and advanced concept. She was also selected as one of the thirty young leaders under the 30s by Forbes in the Asia Women Media, Commercial section.
