As he appreciates the saying from Eric Hobsbawm, a well-known historian, ‘The world will not get better on its own’, Daewook Bang aims to continuously experiment and try many things. He enjoys standing on the border of profit and non-profit, people and technology, dedication and selfishness. And also he likes to attempt in connecting different elements together. As the CEO of Daum Foundation, he focuses on the lives of the youth, culture diversity issue, change of the world through technology. He wants to create a new nonprofit ecosystem, so he is currently interested in nonprofit startup businesses.
Daum Foundation was founded in September of 2001, to accomplish the mission of ‘creating the valuable next generation individuals to promote creative and diverse ways of life by utilizing media and communications.’ Their activities include YouthVoice which supports the voices of the youth to live their lives by expressing their thoughts and opinions, OllyBolly that works to support cultural diversity by producing and distributing storybooks, education programs, campaigns under the belief that a difference should not be a reason for exclusion and discrimination, but a source of cultural creativity and social creation. In addition, ChangeOn is a project that aims to make social changes by connecting nonprofits to technology in a more easier and deeper way. Daum Foundation is also working with many corporates as a CSR partner so that social values and corporate values can bring out the best benefits of one another.
